Thank you for using CarbSense App (the "app")! We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about the data we collect, store, and use. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it. You must read this Privacy Policy before using CarbSense App mobile application and website.

We take care of your personal data and undertake to guarantee its confidentiality and security.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect personal identifying information such as name, email address, or phone number unless you choose to sign in with Apple or Google.

By default, your experience is anonymous, and we generate a unique user ID to identify your session and progress within the app.

We collect the following information:

a. User Progress Data

We store your in-app activity, including:

The Nickname you provided to us,
Completed lessons,
Exercise attempts (including success/failure),
XP earned and streak data,
Preferences such as language, carb counting method, and dark/light mode.

This data is used exclusively to personalize your experience and track your learning progress.

b. Device and Platform Information

We automatically collect non-identifiable device information, including:

OS and version,
App version,
Device model,
Locale.

This helps us improve app compatibility and debugging across different devices.

2. Authentication Methods

You can use three sign-in options:

Anonymous (default),
Apple Sign-In,
Google Sign-In.

The app uses Firebase for authentication. By default, the user is anonymous ("Continue as a guest").

If you choose to sign or upgrade your account to Apple or Google Sign-In, we only store the unique identifier (UID) provided by the provider, which can be your email address or an anonymized email address. No name, surname or profile data is stored in our systems.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

Track your educational progress
Personalize lesson suggestions
Show streaks and XP achievements
Provide a smooth and consistent experience across sessions and devices

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

The app uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and process payments. You can find RevenueCat's privacy policy which details their data processing, at revenuecat.com/privacy

4. Data Retention & Deletion Requests

Your progress data is stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore.

You may request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at info@carbsense.app. Since we do not collect email addresses for anonymous users, we rely on your User ID to locate your data. This ID can be found at the bottom of the Profile page within the app.

When submitting your deletion request, please include:

Your User ID (exactly as shown in the app) and
A reasonable proof of ownership of the account, such as a screenshot of your profile screen

Without your User ID, we are unable to identify or delete your data. We recommend keeping a backup of your User ID in a secure location.

5. Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including:

Encrypted communication (HTTPS),
Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules,
Anonymous session tracking unless you choose to upgrade to be able to recover your data on another device or when re-installing the app.

6. Children's Privacy

CarbSense is designed for general audiences and is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our features or data practices. If we do, we will notify you via in-app message or prompt.
